Fall Into Reading is a literary kickoff to a school year filled with stories we read, listen to, and tell each other.

“Be Your Own Hero” is the theme of this fun-filled literacy event packed with great giveaways, resources, and a book character COSPLAY CONTEST! Learn more about cosplay below.

Here are some of our event partners: Salt River Elementary School, FACE, the Accelerated Learning Academy, Food Services, Higher Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Scottsdale Community College, SRPMIC Get Out the Vote, LEARN, Salt River Police Department, Health and Human Services, Healthwave, and more! Their booths will be decked out in Marvel Comics, Naruto, book characters, 1980s synth modes, and cultural highlights, among other fun themes. Visit each booth for a special giveaway!

COSPLAY: What is it?

Cosplay is when you dress up and behavior like a character from a TV show, film, book, toy, or game. Cosplay isn't the same as dressing up for Halloween, although it's similar; cosplay is about studying and acting like those characters and creating costumes (often homemade from scratch!) that reflect the character's style.

You can get as involved with cosplay as you like! The more creative, the better. Also, cosplays that involve the whole family are really fun! For instance, you could cosplay Goldilocks and the Three Bears or the Ghostbusters, or the Avengers! You could cosplay cartoons, anime, or live action. You could create costumes from books, such as Dr. Seuss, Harry Potter, or other worlds.
