The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Council finds that regular school attendance is essential to the success of children, the well-being of families, and the strength of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. To that end, Salt River Schools enforces tribal law via our School & Community Relations department.

• Increased emphasis on regular school attendance and early intervention.
• Earlier identification of attendance concerns and chronic absenteeism (3 unexcused absences).
• Students enrolled in an online or virtual school must maintain communication with SCR and provide monthly attendance updates to ensure ordinance compliance.
• Additional collaboration between schools, families, and support programs to address attendance barriers.
• Greater accountability for unexcused absences and truancy violations.
• Students may be placed within a tiered attendance support system based on attendance patterns.
• Attendance Support Plans may be developed to identify barriers, establish attendance goals, and provide targeted interventions to improve school attendance and academic success.
• Changes to fine amounts.

Families are encouraged to communicate with their school and SCR whenever attendance challenges arise so supports can be put in place before concerns escalate.
