Ske:g Taṣ! Kamduum?* I have a few important announcements to share with Salt River Schools Families:

First, there is an change in leadership at the Early Childhood Education Center: Michelle Kuamoo will not be returning as Early Childhood Education Leader. Continuous services for our ECEC families are paramount to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our children and staff. Therefore, Dr. Emily Niu will serve as Acting ECEC Leader effective 8/18/2025. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Questions regarding the ECEC leadership transition can be directed to Salt River Schools Administration at 480-362-2500.

Second, Arizona House Bill 2484, A.R.S. § 15-120.05 requires all public and charter schools across the state to limit student access to cell phones and personal electronic devices during the school day. Salt River Schools will comply with this state law and enforce a new policy on all campuses, including the Accelerated Learning Academy, Salt River Elementary School, and the Early Childhood Education Center, as well as our school buses.

Under this policy, which the Education Board approved August 4, students are permitted to use their cell phone or personal device during class if: (a) the use is for educational purposes, as directed by Salt River Schools staff; (b) there is an emergency; or (c) the device is needed to address a medical condition.

In short: Students must keep phones and devices “Silent & Stored” during instructional time, on field trips, and on the school bus, unless one of these three exceptions applies. Click here to read more about the new policy, which can also be found in the Student Parent Handbook. Call your child's school with any questions.

Finally, we hope families SAVE THE DATE and join us at our upcoming events (always FREE and open to all!)! Click the links below to open PDFs of the flyers.

Find out more information about these and all our events at SaltRiverSchools.org/Calendar, which has the most updated event info, including any last-minute changes we might need to make.
